New You Plan

Well, I can't see that these VLCD type diets are being talked about much.

Probably has a lot to do with the injections that people favour these days.

But, I find this weight loss journey that I'm on kind of surreal and a little lonely.

Everyone knows I'm doing it but we don't talk about it much.

Don't get me wrong. I have all the support in the world, all of the encouragement and even a mini-me that is on this plan with me but we kind of just do it and get on with things.

I started a Penzu journal as a way to keep myself focused during this diet, but no one can see it or comment on it, so there's no one to share it with and no one who can learn from it but me.

I like to process information and I like to share things so I'll probably just talk to myself here.

So, I have lost just under 4 stone this year. I'm on the final stretch of this diet. My BMI is hovering at just around 25.1 down from 34 in January. My aim was to get to 21/22 BMI but I think I've fallen off the wagon a few too many times to get there with only 4 weeks left.

That's ok!

Jean size went from 12/14 to 6/8.

Comments are crazy.

My hairdresser calls me 'tiny' and even the neighbour commented on my weight! I don't ever talk to the neighbour and he's a man! He out of the blue told me he'd noticed my weight loss (WHEN WAS HE LOOKING AND WHY) and then told me he started injections for weight loss.

Very strange but also funny to me!

I started my weight loss journey 20 something years ago and weighed over 25 stone! Not good for someone who is just 5'2"!

Tons of excess skin. Not overly happy with what's happened under my once plump and youthful chin but what can I do?

This post is pretty long. I might make it my second accountability journal, along with Penzu, but we'll see how things go.

Feel free to say HI or ask me stuff or make fun of me or whatever.

I don't mind the company!

9 Days Left - transitioning off plan to whole foods until October

Woke up at 3 am and pretty annoyed by it. I've been watching YouTube and other people eating weird foods! Wow, glutton for PUNISHMENT!

Had 140g keto cake and that sums up my nutrients for the day, so off plan but on target, if that makes sense! Now time for lots of water, electrolytes and black coffee until tomorrow at 6 am.

Trying to get used to the texture of real food again since I will be going back to eating real, whole foods shortly, albeit, temporarily. So, I'm baby stepping into things so I don't ruin my gastro whatever and taking things slowly.

A 2 week 'break' from the diet is recommended for every 12 weeks:

How long can I stay on the diet?
According to industry guidelines if you plan to stay on a VLCD for a long period, you should only remain on it for a maximum of 12 weeks and should then have a break for a minimum of 2 weeks. There is no problem with going back on the diet but you always need a break after each 12 week period. This is simply due to the fact that your calorie intake is so much lower than usual that this is the maximum length of time any VLCD remains healthy.

Will I put the weight back on when I return to conventional food?

There is no reason anyone should put weight back on when they return to conventional food other than that of the return of glycogen stores to the muscles. The important thing is that you have healthy balanced meals and don’t go back to old eating habits that led to your weight gain originally.

blog.thenewyouplan.com/faqs/

These breaks a) boost metabolism b) restores gut microbiome c) ensures you maintain and don't gain during the break d) ensures you continue with good eating discipline e) reduces diet fatigue etc etc

I've never had a break, only falls since February, so this should be interesting.

Weight was down exactly 1 pound today so we're 9 stone 11 pounds today. 1 pound over lowest weight from last month.

At this point, I'm trying to just get to where I am maintaining my current weight until I'm back from my trip in October and can recommence the total food replacement plan for 6 weeks.

NSV: went to buy some airplane clothes and pyjamas and bought everything in size 6. I don't know why I'm so much bigger than a lot of women who wear size 6 but that's what I'm wearing at most shops. I don't know if it's down to body composition or because I have excess skin from so much weight loss over the years so my body is shaped weird and just squishes into things. It could also be that size 6 isn't really size 6 but I'm also wearing 11-13 year old clothes.

On that point, I don't remember my DC ever weighing 9 stone 11 pounds at 11-13 years old so maybe our kids are chunky???

I don't know!

Sorry about grammatical errors. I'm half asleep.

Have a good one!

Back to work today so 1st full day on packets. Can't bear breakfast this early so taking a shake and a bar to school. Planning a soup after work but then out this evening so unsure as to the 4th packet.

Hi @FluffyWabbit

Which electrolytes do you find good for restless legs? Magnesium helps me a bit and also vigorously rubbing the the leg with Vicks Vapour Rub, but I'm interested in taking something else.

Hi there! I use Applied Nutrition Hydrate powder, Tropical or Berry flavour.

I wish I knew about this so much longer ago!

Hello everyone and good morning hope we all have a positive start to the day. Alittle update about my self. Am back on it again. From today full on concentration is on. My eldest has settled in very well at high school. Little one having alittle hiccup because she's missing her sister at primary. And am back on my wagon. I would like to say a big thankyou to @FluffyWabbit for your huge support in summer and beginning of September. Let's do this.
