Dear all,

Does anyone have a view on the most nutritious way of using 1200 calories?

I am completely sedentary at the moment and trying not to put any weight on while I recover.

I am peri meno and have to give serious consideration to fibre intake, protein, omega 3 etc.

I do take Vitamin D, zinc, magnesium, psyllium husk and I also have low blood pressure so can stand some salt. Ferritin levels are good so don't need to worry about iron.

What would you eat - how would you spend your calories?

Protein, more protein and healthy animal fats like butter and tallow.

You'll eat less in volume but you won't be hungry.

And none of that plant protein shite. You need easily digestible bio available protein.

I had spinal surgery last year and was put on high protein high fat to prevent weight gain and help me recover. It was really low carb too so I was in nutritional ketosis and actually lost a bit of weight!

Hope you feel better soon.

@PetrichorSoul thats really interesting.

Due to my recovery, I can't get constipated so I'm going heavy on fruit and veg plus greek yoghirt/kefir. Maybe I'll get the full fat yoghurt instead of the 0% fage and eat half the amount.

I've also eaten a ton of oily fish and a bit of chicken though I don't really have the energy for all the chewing!

I've bought some good quality bone stock which I thought I'd mix into some roast veg later.

It's odd because 1200 is my weight loss count usually but as I'm totally inactive it has to be my maintenance - and there isn't much room for manoeuvre.

I hope you are fully recovered 😊
