Im 2 weeks in and really enjoying it.

Need to lose about 2 stone and currently can not to commit to doing anymore with 3 kids a full time job and kids in competitive sports.

Anyways i went from doing nothing, and i really mean nothing to getting up at 6.45am and walking every day ensuring im hitting minimally 10000 steps but generally up at the 11k-13k every single day.

Im on 1600 calories and sticking to it easily and happily.

So my question is has anyone done this and did it work, im happy to make this a lifestyle change so im in it for the long term but wandered how much weight people lost by doing this or similar.

No exercise (waiting for an op) but I lost 4.5 stone by calorie counting (1,500 cals) and logging on MFP to keep accountable. Kept it off (5 years) by continuing to log on MFP.

I'm doing this as well 10,000 steps, 3 runs a week (90 secs running, 30 sec walking intervals as I am injured at the moment) and sort of calorie counting as in I have sainsburys slim n shape for breakfast and lunch plus two apples during the day and then a normal supper. Also aiming to lose 2 stone. Seriously considering mysimba or mounjaro to get rid of the food noise but it's so £££!)

As long as you are in a calorie deficit you will lose weight (and the extra steps will help).

I've lost 22lbs by walking 10-18k steps a day (I walk a lot in my job) and eating around 1900 calories a day. I've dropped a dress size too.
This is since January

I’ve just started doing the same. I have 2st to lose also and I am walking at least 10k a day, and following a 1500 cal diet using nutracheck.

Thank you for starting this thread I find it really good to hear about everyone’s progress.

I started two weeks ago and it’s been a slow start but I am not giving up!

I’ve been doing this since the end of March and have lost 13lbs. I was hoping to drop another lbs tomorrow so it’ll be a full stone… but I made a cake for dc tonight and licked the bowl 😂🙈

I average 1350 calories a day over a week and walk 10k steps plus 2 nights at the gym and then 10 minutes a day with dumbbells (my bingo wings are sooooo much better). I still have 1.5 stone to lose and I’ll be honest, I’m feeling slightly bored and just want to be skinny now! 😩

Can I ask how roughly long/far it is for 10000 steps walking? I can’t wear a watch and my phone isn’t really reliable for checking steps.

I’ve lost around a stone since Xmas just dropping calories but now I need to properly log them and try to walk the 10000 a day. Got a stone to lose to get into healthy BMI and maybe a further half stone after that depending on how I feel/look. Im of an age too much loss may age me a lot- isn’t it the French who say we have to decide between the face and the arse? Good arse, gaunt face. Good face, fat arse!

if you download the strava app that pretty accurate at counting steps etc.

I'm aiming for 15k today.
I did 12k yesterday

pinkoryelloworgreen · 13/05/2024 10:14

I'm jumping on here after setting up my standing desk and walking pad this weekend. I used it a lot before pregnancy and maternity but I returned in January and finding I really and sitting on my fat arse all day and the scales just keep going up! Funny that isn't it 🙄

I've done 1.5 hours this morning but my phone and watch both on charge so didn't couldn't the steps! (Rookie error!) will do some more this afternoon and I'm back on 1600 cals. Let's do this 💪🏼

FrenchandSaunders · 13/05/2024 10:18

@fourelementary just over 4 miles

sounds great!

next make sure to get slightly out of breath when walking and also consider a core strength session (youtube is your friend).

pinkoryelloworgreen · 13/05/2024 10:33

@foodglorious the worst! Why did I even bother 🤣

Toffeegirl39 · 14/05/2024 06:11

i have a stone I’ve been carrying about for years that I’ve decided I will lose. Doing the starter James Smith Academy programme which is essentially 10k steps 1500 cals but he also advocates 95g protein and writes me a little workout as I already use my local gym.
my body is resisting and I lose weight so slowly so I thought I’d try something where I’m accountable. Love it so far. Have Fitbit and I’d say 45 min walk plus housework is 10k steps for me. I try to walk everywhere now and park further away if I have to drive to shops.

braveandwellbehaved · 23/05/2024 09:40

Hi all! All sounds amazing! Also aiming to get my steps in daily, was aiming for 8000 but you've motivated me to up that. Can I ask how long it takes you guys to get that done?

I'm trying to eat generally smaller portions are more veg - not calorie counting as that would send me crazy but trying to increase protein for satiety etc...
