I know I’m being silly but I just feel dejected

I’m hoping someone can talk some sense into me really!

I had a health scare recently and in the past fortnight since I’ve felt well enough I’ve been calorie counting and walking much more. When I first weighed myself I was 14st1 and now I’m at 13st4, I’m quite proud of myself!
DH bought some digital scales (I was using the old fashioned ones) and I’m actually 13st10 now. We used a 1 kilo weight to compare and the digital scales are correct.
I know it’s silly because I’ve still lost the same amount of weight but I didn’t realise how incorrect they were and I just feel a bit disheartened.

Would love someone to just give my head a wobble more than anything really!

I'd expect the traditional scales to be more accurate. Digital can be funny depending Digital in what surface they're on

That is totally understandable, of course you're upset as it feels like you've taken a big step backwards - as you said though of course you haven't, you've lost the exact same amount and made the same progress.
Just think of the actual weight as a marker of progress rather than an indicator of size because it's not. A friend and I look almost identical size wise but she's a whole stone lighter than me, it's really not relevant the actual weight.

Yes I thought so that’s why we tested the weight on both and it was accurate on the digital ones and way off on the traditional scale

Thank you. It’s the first time I’ve ever actively tried to lose weight and it just put me in a bad mood! Doesn’t help that it’s the first day of my period too!

Traditional scales do lose accuracy as they age tbh. You do need to focus on the loss though, as that is what is important. If you have lost 11lbs in a couple of weeks then in a couple more you could actually be below 13 stone.

I'd be gutted so I completely understand, stick to the original ones, the loss is the same regardless. We'll done on the weightloss!

Thank you I’ve never lost weight unless I’ve been poorly so I’m pretty pleased!

I’d be gutted too but logically that means the initial weight was wrong so you’ve still lost nearly a stone and that’s fantastic! Take a deep breath and keep going because you’re clearly doing something right and the number is going down.

I know it’s just getting my head around it I guess! Thank you x

@MotherOfOlafs i totally get that. I get pissed off when I weigh, do what feels like a massive poo, then weigh again and there’s no difference! 😂
