I’m 45, lost 5 pounds in 3 weeks but finding it difficult. I’m under 5ft so that definitely not helping as feel I have to eat 1000 cals or less before I lose anything

Anyway I’ve been at home ill today and came across this podcast, which is also on Youtube and feel like it was a lightbulb moment for me, or I hope so anyway! Thought I’d post in case it helps anyone else in the calorie counting camp who’s finding it difficult as it was really interesting.

Jason Fung is a quack and a nephrologist. The insulin model of obesity he talks about has been debunked countless times. Intermittent fasting or time restricted eating performs no better in clinical studies against a calorie controlled diet when calories are equated.

Agree in the short term, you may see the same results but who would be healthier? I’m not just interested in losing weight that’s the difference. I’m not dissing calorie counting, that’s what I’m doing.

I am actively trying to find what’s the healthiest way and how to keep the weight off long term and I thought others might be interested too.

For anyone who is interested in learning more, I watched these yesterday and also found them really helpful.

Mindy Peltz is another quack except she's way worse than Fung. You're fooling into the trap of these charlatans.

What about Giles Yeo and Tim Spector, are these scientists/doctors charlatans too?

There seems to be a growing body of evidence and voices behind this so you dismissing them as ‘quacks’ is rather lame.

What do they have to gain by telling people this is healthy for you, it’s reversing type 2 diabetes etc.

What do they have to gain by telling people the effects of sugar and processed food on our body? I now know having listened…for free.

I’ve learnt I was sabotaging my efforts by my poor food choices so I’m going to make better choices to eliminate the hunger/cravings and include some fasting too for the health benefits.

Anyway, I found listening to them all so informative and I hope it helps someone else.

Giles Yeo is legit as is Tim Spector although he is prone to making claims that are not based in any evidence.

Mindy Pelz and Jason Fung have both made money flogging their books, cure all supplements and diet plans. It's a very lucrative business they're both in.
