Calorie-counting

Last summer fat.... anyone care to join me?

So the nicer weather is here. I put on a skirt yesterday and felt huge. Every year I say I'm gonna lose weight for next summer and every year I fail.

I'm still carrying all the baby weight from my youngest who's 9 this summer. So that's 9 summers of feeling like crap!! I'm 4 maybe 5 stone overweight but I'm short so it's not a good look.

IM DONE, I CANT DO THIS ANYMORE!!

My knees hurt, I can't get upstairs easily anymore (I actually have to crawl up somedays). I can't put my pants on without threat of throwing my back out and painting my toe nails..... forget it.

I have the nutracheck app on my phone and I have just invested in a smart hoop. I'm starting tomorrow, yes Easter Sunday..... that's how fed up I am..... who's with me?!?

i have been on a weight loss journey for a few weeks now

1 and a half stone down from about 6 stone to lose

i'm sick of it too so i've got a private prescription for a weight loss drug. i'm using my fitness pal to log and am just counting calories, and cutting carbs where I can

i have a wardrobe of summer clothes i can't fit into so have bought a few interim bits

Ooh interested to know what the private prescription is for please? I lost 2 stone in the 1st lockdown with orlistat prescribed by GP..... but the side effects after 8 weeks were horrendous. I stuck religiously to the daily fat amount but still ended up with the stomach pain and orange oil eventually. It wasn't pleasant. I still have a stash of the tablets and keep dabbling with the idea of using my stash up! It worked and kept the weight off until the lockdown after the Christmas occurred..... where I regained all I had lost and a few extra lb for good measure but it was an uber strict diet and I'm not sure my heads in the right place right now!

I keep looking at saxenda but not sure if I can physically do it! The pen/needle thing really puts me off.

Just done a 20 min hoop session and lying down for a rest. Jees I'm so unfit.

Weighed in at 14st 6lb this morning at 5ft 3 it's a concern!! Hubby has just dangled Lanzarote in front of me for our hols end aug/early sept..... I best crack on.

First goal is first stone off by end of May!!

Needle is tiny and you don't feel it at all.

Losing half a pound a day on saxenda, slow and steady

This is my last fat summer too. I have 6 stone to lose and have just realised that if I lose half a stone a month, that's 4 stone by Christmas. Have lost 3.5lbs in the last 9 days so that feels achievable. I started to use MFP to log my food and have started to do a home dvd a few times a week.

@SaxendaSummer was the prescription hard to get? And what are you doing to lose half a lb a a day..... that's pretty impressive? Just had a look and boots do it with an online prescription. How long does a pen roughly last of you don't mind me asking please? I have a long term joint issue which weight loss would massively improve. I'm wondering if I would be able to get saxenda through my gp?!? Though it might just be easier to do it online and pay as my GP surgery are still making life impossible.

@MrsCooper2 half a stone per month is sensible and totally doable. I need to get that into my head. I fail with weightloss plans as I want results fast then lose my way when it doesn't happen. I need to give my head a shake sometimes!!

@SaxendaSummer I still don't think I can do the pen. Just watched a YouTube clip on how to administer the pen..... I'm such a wimp..... which is ridiculous as I'm covered in tattoos. I just can't imagine administering it to myself!

Oh me!!! I'm wanna start but whilst I know there's no time like the present, I'm aware that we are on a family holiday until Wednesday so I'm definitely gonna start then. Are we gonna do a weekly weigh in?

May I ask how you get a prescription for sexanda?

Report
PansyPetunia · 17/04/2022 18:38

i got my saxenda prescription from asda pharmacy online

make the account then request the saxenda....a doctor reviews application (just a bit of general info) I had to then submit a photo of myself and a photo of the scales showing my weight. then they sent it

its a pen with disposable needles....very small painless needles. like a thin hair

you start at 0.6mg moving up weekly by 0.6mg to reach the ultimate of 3.0mg. Instantly you find your appetite has dulled.

you are supposed to use this alongside a calorie controlled diet and exercise. My hunger is minimal and side effects are minimal for me...some get nausea, sickness, constipation.

the pen is roughly £50,cheaper to buy a few at a time. pen runs out fairly quickly as you up the dose but my first pen at 0.6 and 1.02 lasted about 2 weeks . i've stayed at the 1.08mg as it works well enough for now

I'm on it too. 3lbs lost in three weeks. Not sure it's worth it. I have no appetite, but not really losing weight.

I got mine from boots. £250 for 5 pens. Sticking at 1.2 so each pen lasts about 4 weeks. I have minimum hunger and have to remind myself to eat. Before I was starving all the time and a pure emotional eater. It's also but me off alcohol. Had a bad craving tonight but it passed quickly.

Interesting that quite a few of you are on saxenda....... diet fail today, the nice weather ended with a bbq and prosecco. Feeling rather tipsy though kept quite restrained with the food..... just haven't tracked. So on that note I will dig the orlistat out tomorrow and use that up. Got about a 5 month supply...... can't justify (at this stage) the cost for the saxenda right now when I still have the orlistst hanging around. It will stop the distractions at bbqs as there is no way I'm risking side effects once I'm back on it Blush

And I meant to say I rarely feel true hunger which is another reason I'm hesitating with saxenda. My issue is emotional binge eating. I've just started a course of CBT so hoping once this kicks in again I can break free from the emotional side of things that trigger a binge. I did really well with the orlistat last time as mentally I was in a great place..... then damn covid knocked me sideways then flat on my arse again Sad

The CBT will be interesting.

I am loosing weight, just calorie reduction. Loss has been very slow, of course I want it off now, it's weird when that switch flips and you realise how big you have got and feel uncomfortable. So am loosing about 1 lb a week, so seems like it will take FOREVER and why is there 14 lb in stone ? As that means it takes even longer 😂

Anyway I did want some of the kids chocolate tonight, thought I'd treat myself to some,? but then thought I'm actually treating myself badly to eat it. I'm over weight, prediabetic so I shouldn't eat it. So I didn't, yay, but I had a low calorie hot chocolate drink made with water ( certainly not perfect as contains some sugar still, but it's very much food swaps for me. Changing things slowly)

Hello there. I'd love to join you. I'm 42 and live with DH, DS(10) and DD(8) Weighing in at around 17 and a half stone. I am just back from a few days away with the family, eating everything in sight. I've a holiday booked abroad for 6th July. Hoping to get at least a stone off for that and slowly shifting the rest of it by Summer 23. If I could get down to 13 stone, I'd be elated. My problem is emotional eating, huge portions and giving up after a week if I haven't lost 2 stone by then. Consistency is not my middle name! I have hypothyroidism, endometriosis and am perimenopausal so hormones are all over the shop, which doesn't help.
Good luck everyone!

Back on calorie counting tomorrow and weighing after a bank holiday weekend 🥴

I have roughly a stone to lose, I had 2 babies 21m apart and my youngest has just turned 1. I have lost the weight from that pregnancy but need to shift the stone leftover from the first now!

On holiday in 4 weeks time so need to try and shift 4-5lb before then and try not to lose control while away!

No issues with exercise, I enjoy it and walk a lot. I just eat too much!

Hi. Can I please join you. I weighed in at 12.10 this morning. I had previously lost about 6 pounds and was heading in the right direction but a couple of weeks of alcohol and chocolate reversed that with ease. I've reset MFP and put my Garmin back on which syncs with it... aiming for an initial quick loss then 2 pounds a week.
