Calories in a mushroom chow mein takeaway?

Just that really, had a chinese tonight, I'm pregnant and so didn't want much. I ordered a mushroom chow mein with no beansprouts or onions, so it was basically noodles and mushrooms.

It cam in one of those rectangular tubs, so quite large portion. Can't seem to find the calorie count anywhere or even an approximation.

Any help appreciated!

I have to question why you are even thinking about the calories when you are pregnant ?? Why get a takeaway if you are going to stress about it ?

mywrencalls · 18/01/2020 20:45

I'm not stressed about it, it's more out of curiosity... I don't count calories but I am keeping an eye on them during pregnancy because I have a thyroid condition. I'm not overweight or trying to prevent weight gain. I'm just trying to be healthy.

Impossible to guess!

Lordfrontpaw · 22/01/2020 10:57

Was it greasy? Were they egg noddles? Anything else in it apart from mushrooms? How big was the portion? Was it nice (although without onions and beansprouts...!)?

QueenieMum · 22/01/2020 10:59

I mean this in the nicest possible way - if you are pregnant and concerned about the effects of pregnancy on an existing medical condition, or vice versa, you should be asking for advice from your GP or another relevant medical professional. Any advice you receive on here would be guesswork. Get real life, specific help from someone who knows what they are talking about.

Lordfrontpaw · 22/01/2020 11:01

I think it was just more idle curiosity rather than a 'need' to know. But yes - if you need medical or professional advice, don't rely on a bunch of randoms (in the nicest possible way) on the internet!

@QueenieMum I am consultant led and everything is going fine and smoothly. I was simply wondering about the calories in the one meal I had. Out of curiosity that's all.

@Lordfrontpaw ...I think they were egg noodles, and I know - the no beansprout or onion thing, pregnancy is weird Grin
Yes it was just noodles and mushrooms. Must admit it made me feep really good haha.

Gone off it now though Hmm

I'm going to go with...600 calories - I cup of egg noodles is 150 calories (so maybe 3 cups) and 1/2 cup fried mushrooms is 75 calories - the extra is just the extra oil they may have added.

mywrencalls · 22/01/2020 15:40

Thanks @Lordfrontpaw haha, I was guessing around 1500 cals because my portion was huge but who knows Grin
