0.5 lbs loss setting on MyFitnessPal- anyone lost?

Hi all,

I’m fairly greedy so I’ve set MyFitnessPal to 0.5 lbs loss a week so I’m eating around 1600 a day (I’m 5”3.7). Do you think it will work long term or do you think I’ll have to reduce calories.

Any tips much appreciated thanks 🙏

I haven't got any advice as I've never bothered with my diet before so this has been a learning curve for me.
Im only 5ft tall was 13st 6lb at the beginning of September on MFP it set me 1220 calories to loose a lb a week. I'm not a big eater just the wrong things. I have now lost 1stone. I have not had any alcohol. I've eaten more veg than ever. I have also cut out my biggest downfall crisps and chocolate (eat these only on a Saturday)
I find it helpful to put everything you eat in the diary section. The first day I realised that I had eaten over 2000 calories, bags of crisps and chips made up a lot of that number.
Good luck.

Thank you for your reply. Well done on your loss! That’s amazing. It’s good to know that the 1lb a week loss setting works. I’ll see how I weigh in on Monday and if I haven’t lost anything then I’ll readjust to 1lb a week. I’be given up alcohol too so hopefully that will help x

Let me know if you have lost any weight. Last night I had one bicardi and coke and a small chocolate bar, my treat for the week.

I lost weight with the 0.5lb setting, it's just a slow WeightLoss so don't become discouraged. I did 0.5lb for the first couple of weeks then switched to 1lb as I wanted to speed things up😊

@ADayAlwaysHasToEnd thank you that’s great to know!

I’ll let you both know if I’ve lost any weight tomorrow 👍😁 fingers crossed 🤞

This was exactly me- I have a desk job too so thought 0.5 lb a week was realistic. I was 11.1stone when I started in January and got to 9.13 by July so I think it worked well for me, even though I am struggling to get past this plateau I've been on all summer and lose the rest I wanted to.

Moreover, it has really taught me to stick to sensible meals, limit snacks, and that it is ok to be a wee bit hungry between! I was such a greedy gorb but am quite a reformed character brushes chocolate cake crumbs off face

MitMopse Oh my god that’s a brilliant loss! Well done! It’s great to know that it can work at 0.5lbs a week 👍

Yay I just weighed in and I’ve lost 1.4 lbs and the beauty of it is I haven’t starved myself! I’m so pleased 😁

Well done lucky. Onwards and upwards to the next pound.

Ohluckyme · 08/10/2018 09:26

Thank you! I’m so pleased! After doing lots of mad diets I didn’t realise how freeing calorie counting is. It’s great being able to eat whatever I want 😁
