MFP help, please - total calories ok, but too much fat

I (usually) stay within my total calorie allowance for the day, but sometimes go over into the red for my fat total. i've been telling myself that because most of my fat intake comes from 'good' fat - e.g. avocados, nuts, salmon etc that it doesn't matter, but it is happening quite a bit.

How are the relative nutritional daily amounts calculated? Does anyone know if too much of this type of fat will slow down weight loss, or generally be a bad thing?

You can override the percentages it sets you. If you're happy with how much your eating, don't change it. In terms of weight loss people say that a calorie is a calorie, so it won't be a bad thing.

In terms of health and nutrition, I'd guess it means that your protein intake is too low (that's what suffers when I overdo the carbs). Google recommended percentages?

Thanks, Vivacia - I did and saw some contradictory ratios... but I think that it wouldn't hurt to up the protein and reduce the carbs. I do like the other positives of eating those fats with regard to skin and nails but at the moment am more focussed on weight loss. Will monitor or next two weeks and see how it goes!

Good luck! I got down to a size 8, and am maintaining it, with calorie-counting Smile

That's brilliant - well done! How long did your weight loss take?

From about April until the September I think.
