Day 5 of using a fitbit , does anyone want to join me ?

I have tried and failed far too many times to lose weight .
I have bought a fitbit one and it is (so far) keeping me motivated to move more and count the calories .

Is anyone else doing this ? I would love someone to talk to about it . I haven't told anyone in real life as I have started getting fit too many times and not managed it and this time I just want to show them I have done it rather than banging on about it and then failing .

I am doing my 10k steps and keeping under cals but I am a bit confused about eating exercise cals , some say you should and some say you shouldn't .

All advice and kicks up the ample arse welcome !

Yes, me! I started last Tuesday. Have stopped taking the car to the train station and am walking instead, FitBit reckons I'm doing 7km a day/12,000 steps. Sticking to 1600 calories a day roughly and it feels ok so far! Am v v heavy, 15 stone, but this is a start! Grin

I don't know if you use myfitness pal to log your eating (its fab there are loads of threads on here) but if you do fitbit can sync with the myfitness pal app too so it calculates your excercise calories too.

Me. I have only started today. I'll let you know how I'm getting on. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions.

I've synced it with my fitness pal. I'm aiming to lose 2.5 stone to start with.

Like dickie I'm also 15 stone and hoping this will give me the push I need

I've been fitbitting since last August and am 2lb off losing 5 stones. Have had time off, do my 10000 most days. I try not to eat the exercise calls back but sometimes do for weekends/ special occasions. I track food in mfp. Fitbit has been a revelation for me, years of yo/yo dieting and this has finally clicked and I think it's sustainable. Good luck with yours....

ishoos that's fantastic ?? I have to say the I'm loving mine so far. If I can do half as well as you I'll be delighted. Well done.

I"m really keen to get one. I only have an ancient old iPhone 4 & the JL website says it's compatible with 4S & 5. I do have a Mac though, will it work do you happen to know?

Yay ! I knew I couldn't be alone .

There is a mumsnet community on the fitbit site which I have now found and it would be fab to see more people on there .

I am managing to stick to my goals which I am really pleased about .

I am still confused about the exercise calories but I am enjoying the challenge .

Gosh I've had a fitbit for two to the years but haven't lost loads of weight Sad . I'm getting back into doing 10000 steps a day. Had a blip when my dd went to high school and I didn't walk her to school anymore.

dickiedavisthunderthighs · 13/05/2015 09:16

Whereabouts is the mumsnet community on the site Howlong? Just had a look but couldn't find it.

It's been a week now for me and I've walked 30 miles which is brilliant motivation. I haven't lost any weight mind you but it's always very painfully slow with me!!

A question - I've noticed that by the time I've left the house some mornings it reckons I've walked 500 steps which is just nonsense; I've been downstairs to feed the cats and make a coffee and that's about it! Could it be the movement when I shower and wash my hair? Does anyone else find this happening?
