Anyone else stall or even gain during period/pms?

Just that really. For about a week before my period and then for a week during period I just can't lose weight! I know it's possibly water blah blah but it's SO demoralising! I don't even get a good drop after period either!

Just wanted a moan really. I know it's just one of those things, and i certainly stick to my healthy eating no matter what, it's just really upsetting Sad

I put on 2lbs before my period. Always do...even before diet etc. It generally goes just at the end. So this week is my this week mfp and my weight just wasn't moving. Aha I thought...period. I was right. I'm a pound down this morning on yesterday just because it's almost done

It sucks doesn't it!

Yeah. Two pounds down again. Very annoying

Yes! My weight fluctuates around my period sometimes it can be by 5 or 6 lbs - I stay away from the scales for 5 days before I'm due and 5 days after. I now prefer to check my weight just once a month when my period has finished - it's certainly took the stress and disappointment out of weighing myself.

It also does it mid cycle around ovulation but not as bad.

God yes. I could gain 6 pounds. I'm post menopause now and it's a permanent, rather than monthly, problem.

Pippin8 · 11/04/2015 12:31

My cycle is quite short, varies between 22-27 days so I have to weigh at just the right time. I initially lost 6lbs in the first month. Weighed today (started period) & it showed a 2lb gain!!

This is perfectly normal - water retention can range from 1/2 pound to 10 pounds when your progesterone levels fall. It's not 'real' weight gain - it's just water and gas so don't panic!

Just stick to your regular eating patterns (if you can!) Exercise, drinking water and try to avoid fatty foods, alcohol, and salt, which may encourage your body to hold onto more water (easier said then done, I realise...Wink )

Good to know I'm not alone! Think I'll just have to avoid the scales for half the month from now on!

I always gain 3 pounds for the 3 days before and first 2 days of my period. I factor that in to my weighings
