Lose weight more slowly on more calories?

Hi I have a quick question. I have worked out from the BMI calculator that I should be on around 1900 calories a day. I am 5 5 and just over 10 stone. I would like to lose a few pounds around my hips and bum (lovely saddlebags!) but do not need to lose a dramatic amount. I notice that a lot of people on this board are eating 1200 a day and finding it easy! I get ferociously hungry and a bit wobbly if I eat under 1700. My question is, will I lose weight if I stick to 1700? I think I eat a lot more than that at the moment :/ I am not massively active though I am hoping to change that.

Yes you will! You will Lowe it more slowly but it will stay off.

Thanks Juneybean. I know myself too well now. Have tried a few diets over the years, including the 5.2 and have failed every time because the hunger always beats me!

I find calorie counting best as I can still have a treat I just have to account for it (without having to google how many syns or whatever!)

I am the same height as you and 10 stone 4 and have decided to do the same. I have set my MFP to half pound loss which gives me 1640 calories, hopefully I can stick to it this way. I also tried 5 2 and couldn't get through the first fast day!

Add me on MFP if you use it my username is RTfairy Smile

Rtfairy - I tried the 5 2 diet for a week. Never again! I was not a nice person to live with (I call it Hunger Rage)!

I have to say I am finding life a lot easier eating this way. I think my blood sugar levels are much more stable which leaves me feeling much more relaxed.
