Cant get past a week

I have tried calorie counting a few times but have so far never managed to make it past a week.
Basically I have little will power, and have never been good at dieting.
However I have recently put a stone on, following been laid up with an injury for 2 months and I really need to lose it, and more if I can.
I am still waiting for treatment for my injury so limited to very little exercise.
I want to try calorie counting again as I can't afford SW, WW, etc. or get to any of the meetings, and I don't know about any other diets to try.
Can you give me some tips to help me keep focused and motivated.

I'd start with a free app like My Fitness Pal and just honestly log what you eat and do for a few weeks, then think about where you could make some easy swaps

I started by not dieting and counting for a week or two. It really did make me realise just how much I was eating, and gave me an awareness of how many calories are in what I eat ,what I like that's 'good' and what's not. I realised that a lot of the things I really enjoy, and a lot of the meals i make are fine, this made it all less daunting tbh. My fitness pal is very effective for me.

This is probably crap advice but can you have a cheat day one day a week?
If I thought I would be denied sweets and crisps etc forever I would crave them, but since I have a cheat day I just think 'ok I'll wait till then'
Also definitely use mfp and work out which simple changes you can make to save calories

I do like the sound of your cheat day BadztMaru. Grin
I do normally end up having a day where I end up over indulging, and then end up giving up because I just think well I have undone what I had already done.
Though a cheat day where I am not as strict but still keep an eye on what I do have might help.

MFP is the way to go. And if you slip up, get back up Smile
