Sick of counting calories while dh stuffs mince pies!

Soooooooo frustrated. I've been trying to lose weight for a couple of months now, finding it really difficult with the festive season upon us.
Being pulled in 2 different directions, do I enjoy the festive period and battle the bulge in the New Year or keep slogging away hoping I can at least maintain? Trouble is, I get really resentful that dh and kids can eat what they like, silly I know but every night I cook for them and watch them tuck into curry/spag bol/sheperds pie etc and there's me with my salad or weight watchers soup. It sometimes seems so unfair!!!

It is really hard at Christmas, but we all know that the more we indulge in December, the harder it will be to fix in January. It might help to ask your DH if he could avoid stuffing mince pies in front of you as that does seem a tad cruel.

However, it also sounds as though you are being far too tough on yourself. Why are you eating salad or weight watchers soup when you could just have a small portion of whatever your family are having? I have been losing an average of 1-2 lbs a week for the last 5 months whilst still eating spag bol, curry etc. with my family, so it can be done and hopefully will be far more sustainable long term.

Bit late but I've just started trying to lose weight and by far the hardest part is watching others eat. DH thinks that dieting is a load of old bunkum and I'm fine as I am which doesn't help. Him and the DS's got a pizza takeaway last night, it was sooo hard not to dive in! There is also loads of cake and chocolate in the cupboard as he likes lots of sweet things, again a massive temptation. i managed to have an options drink and two biscuits this morning rather than give in to a full binge so OK. I am actually finding calorie counting combined with gym easier than slimming world which failed dismally. I'm trying not to get over deprived and eat "normally" just less but I won't deny that I do feel restricted and hungry often. I guess it takes getting used to. Hopefully they will all take notice when I actually look much better and have bags more energy.
