I wrote this poem after a lady told me about her school days she said it describes exactly how she felt I am sharing in the hope it may help someone

Everyday I would wake up with dread and fear,
Not a day went by without shedding a tear.
You broke my nose and you blacked my eye,
But it was the words that you said that made me cry.

Those nasty words, they still haunt me today,
They have affected my life in such a big way.
I do my best every day to stay strong,
Why am I suffering? It was you that was wrong.

I see you on the street and you just walk on by,
Not once have I stopped you to ask you why,
To hear your excuses, for this I don't care,
It's for people like you I say a little prayer.

My teenage years were awful because of you,
Emotions I buried but then one day I blew.
To finally let go and release how I feel,
That felt so good and I began to heal.

I can't change the past, of this I know,
So to forgive what you did is how I've let go.
I hope over the years you have changed your ways,
And if you have kids they don't experience my days.
