Finishing bf what's going to happen to my breasts?!!

My DD is 13mo and had her last bf on Saturday, for @ 4weeks prior she was down to one feed a day as I had returned to work and was sometimes missing evening feeds. The one feed she did have was so short as she was more interested in practicing her new walking, dancing skills than milky that I decided to switch to cows milk and she's not seemed remotely bothered.

So pleased we made it so far this was quite unexpected, (I'm a little bit sad actually).

So no feeds since Saturday & I haven't noticed even a slight difference in my breasts. Not engorged etc

just wondered what I can expect, I am full of dread at the prospect of suddenly leaking at work in a meeting or something.

Should I have breast pump to hand?!!

Congratulations on weaning your DD so smoothly!
It doesn't sound like you're going to get any engorgement or pain at all. If you were, it would have started by now, usually about 1-2 days after the last feed.
Having fed so little towards the end, your breasts were probably only producing a small amount of milk and therefore are finding it easy to adjust to stopping altogether.
You have done it the best way and saved yourself the agony.
Well done!

If you are not engorged by now, unlikely you will be. I did give my DD a last BF a few weeks later though as there seemed to be some milk there.

Breasts might start to return to pre-pregnancy size though.

Thanks, still fine today, I guess I weaned the most comfortable way purely by accident!

Yeah for my breasts going back to pre pregnancy size (although I'm I'm guessing they won't head north again), I might finally be able to get some work tops buttoned...

I do miss it a bit, but I'm just so pleased we made it that far. Could never have imagined that'd be the case in the early days as I had to mix feed initially due to lots of baby weight loss.

I'll pack the pump away now....thanks again!
