Hi, dd is 5 months old and despite problems in the first few weeks, feeding has been going well. At the weekend I had a painful milk blister on one of my nipples which I popped (as recommended on kellymom). The blister has gone but now I have a red mark on my nipple and latching dd on is a bit painful. The problem is dd doesn't want to feed on that side and squirms when I try. Its as if shes frustrated and not getting any milk, but I have squeezed my breast and milk is coming out. She is also pulling at my breast when my nipple is in her mouth, which is pretty painful too. On the other side feeding is fine!

Does anyone have any ideas why this would be?

Thank you!

Coincidence probably My daughter went through a similar squirmy stage at about the same age, also went through periods of refusing one breast completely. Even now (8mo) she prefers my right side.

Agree it being coincidence. Though perhaps the scab is causing some discomfort for her? I had one too and remember something of the same sort. Dd now 15m went through lots of this on and off...infact she's doing it now.

Thank you jemjabella and bebemoohatess, good to hear its just coincidence and not an underlying problem. How strange that lo's can prefer one breast to the other!
