Do I have to freeze EBM on the day it was expressed?

I express at work while DS (10mo) is at nursery, and this week they've been checking whether he is ok to go without his EBM bottle (he dropped his 2nd one last month). He hadn't been 'asking' for it and didn't appear to miss it for the last three days so I think my days of expressing might be over!!

Now planning to just BF morning and evening. Next week I might just express once during the day for my own comfort, refrigerate it at work and then freeze right when I get home. I will put it in a cool bag with freezer packs for the journey home (roughly about 6 hours after expressing). That should be ok shouldn't it?

My other question is, I've got three bottles of EBM, one from Wednesday, one from yesterday and one from today. Can I freeze these now?

I've looked on kelly mom and can't seem to find the answer. I know refrigerated milk can be kept up to 8 days, and frozen up to 3-6 months, but do you have to freeze straight away after expressing, or can the milk be refrigerated for a few days first and then frozen?

If I can't freeze it, I'll have to find some way of using it up in the next couple of days!

Yes expressing at work then keeping in cool bag will be fine.
Not sure on the EBM I'm afraid. Could you offer it as a drink out a cup or with his breakfast so it could be used.

I regularly express a half a tubful one night, add to it the next and then freeze - no idea if this is recommended but no harm done so far!
