Hungrier baby milk - When to use it??

Dd2 is 4.5mo and has been breast fed for 4 months. She got her first tooth just before 4 months and that was the push I was looking for to stop (please dont judge me). Im glad because she has started biting me now!!

She still has one breast feed a day and 4 formula feeds.

She has 8oz bottles and drinks them in 5 minutes flat!! Sometimes she will look for more.

She weighs 16lbs now (8lb 13 at birth!)

Should I switch to hungrier milk or is it just a gimmick??

Thanks

I would try giving her more of the normal milk first and see of that satisfies her. I have had a go with hungrier baby milk but am far from sure about it, artificially filling them seems a bit wrong. I think I'd rather start solids early than use too much of it to be honest.

I used hungry milk from around 14 weeks and although ds didnt go much longer between feeds he seemed more settled. It is made predominantly from the casein milk protein which is harder to digest and may make your lo feel fuller for longer.

5 feeds doesn't sound a lot tbh. Could you offer more? It's not any more filling/calorific, just harder to digest.

Weight is a red herring. Means nothing.

Thanks all. I spoke to my HV on Tuesday about and she told me to start weaning her. I honestly dont think she is ready for it yet though. With my first dd I could see signs that she was ready and she loved it!

I have moved her to hungrier milk and she has been great. She doesnt quite finish 8oz but is so much happier after. And.... she is sleeping for 12 hours at night!!

THE ANSWER IS YES AND NO ! IT S A BIT OF A GIMMICK BUT OUR DIETITIAN SAYS THE FORMULA MILKS ARE MUCH THE SAME SO TRY IT AND SEE, SHE S OLD ENOUGH, ALSO WATCH OUT FOR CONSTIPATION, THIS IS ONLY HERE SAY FROM OTHER MOTHERS BUT FOREWARNED , JUST GIVE MORE COOLED BOILED WATER, IF THIS HAPPENS .

Thanks bank. I have noticed she has been straining more this week. She has had water from a small beaker so will give her more tomorrow.

Formula milks are largely the same across the brands, but 'hungry' baby milk is not the same as first stage milk. The protein is less modified and it takes longer for the baby's system to metabolise for this reason. Calorie content is pretty much the same.
