Tiktok and other experts- local bf rates/stats?! Help!

Anyone able to help me- I need to get some up to date bf statistics for a particular area, for a job interview

How/where do I find them/

The most up to date ones we have are from 2005. Here.

They do the surveys every 5 years, BTW, so 2010 is the next/most recent one (not sure whether it has been done yet) but the results won't be published until 2012.

The department of health website has local bf stats - you'll have to hunt for them, though. Try the maternal and infant nutrition folder.

You might find shortcuts to these stats at the Baby friendly website, too.

Just wondering, where do they get the stats from? Is it from hospitals or health visitors, or do they ask mums directly?

TLC - Infant Feeding survey is done with massive surveying direct to mothers, mix of postal survey and face to face interviews.

Local stats are normally collected by asking maternity units and HVs (sometimes GPs) to report back - the mat. units collect the info by filling in the mother's feeding details at birth at at discharge, and the HVs also collect the info from individual mothers on their case loads, using a form or sometimes an electronic device and they send the stats back to the PCTs.
