Breastfeeding in pregnancy - loose poos?

Hi
I'm 7 weeks pregnant today. DD is as enthusiastic as ever at the breast. She is almost 12 months old. Monster morning and night feeds and the odd dive-in, here and there during the day. Anyhow, she's had loose motions for about the last two weeks - she is still having one poo a day. No temperature, she's cheery enough, appetite for solids undiminished. I'm getting her weighed tomorrow so I'm not sure on weight loss/gain, but she certainly doesn't seem to be smaller or skinnier. The poos are much softer than before and bordering on quite sloppy. Could it be caused by some change in the breastmilk due to the pregnancy? There is no perceptible colour or texture change when I hand expressed a wee bit. I have an appointment with the GP on Wednesday to have a chat, but it occured to me maybe it's the breastmilk. I'd hate to have to wean

Thanks for listening.

I don't remember my DS's poo changing, other than when DS2 was born and he started feeding far more frequently as well and then it did go a bit looser and more yellowy.

His poo was often quite loose though.

same as cheggers - DS has always had fairly loose poos, it's only really since he turned 3 that that's changed. Is she maybe feeding a bit more?

Congratulations!

It could be the milk. I've noticed DD1's poos are much more solid since DD2 was born than they were when I was pg (i'm now tandem feeding). Can't see that this would be a reason to wean her though as you say its not bothering her.

Recommend reading Adventures in Tandem Nursing. Lots of info in there on feeding in pregnancy as well as feeding 2.

Thanks all. Poos were pretty solid up until a couple of weeks ago.

In late pregnancy when you have colostrum coming through it's fairly normal for it to affect the older child's poo, but I've not heard of a change that early on.

Thanks PLIMLS

The GP did a thorough physical exam and said DD should give up dairy for the next week to 10 days in case it is inflaming her bowel. I'm giving it a try but not sure if it will help or not TBH. He also asked how much tea she drank each day (!) and suggested I give up breastfeeding as this is also "dairy".

Not sure why I bothered TBH!!
