Hi TikTok and others who know what's what
I have been prescribed an anti-biotic by a derm for a minor skin complaint.

I forgot to mention i was bfing (duh!) and because DD is 16 months, I imagine doctor assumed I was no longer bfing.

Anyway, just read the leaflet for the drug brnd naame : Tolexine GE (Doxycycline Monohydrate) and it says "bf not advised".

Any thoughts? I know they say "not advised" for everything to be on the very safe side. Can i take these or should I wait?

thnks alot

BNF says that tetracyclines should not be given to breastfeeding mothers.

Will have a look elsewhere to see if I can find out why

from breastfeeding network this is v reliable source and states long courses, eg for acne, should be avoided wherever possible, but short courses are ok.

Lactmed, tiktoks favourite IIRC also says short courses ok, long courses not ok. linky here

moaning thanks alot

bugger bugger though

i really wish I could take these anti biotics as my skin has gone to shit since pregnancy 1.

Unfortunately, i have been pregnant or breastfeeding (with no break) since April 2006 so no bloody chance to sort out acne

[annoyed emoticon]
