Is it bad for baby to swap one BF for formula?

My baby is now 2 months. I am BF in the day for 4 feeds and his dad gives him either XBM or formula for the late night feed. I run my own business and am going to start doing a couple of days a month work quite soon. are there any health implications for baby if I dropped say the 10.30 feed and swapped it with formula? how would i go about doing it? will he still be getting all the benefits of BM if he still gets it for 3 or 4 feeds out of the 5 per day? when do these benefits stop? i know all the stuff about the special milk in the first few weeks but what happens when you are mixing it up later on? he is absolutely fine on both bottle and breast at the moment - although he has had reflux so sometimes gets upset with both! thanks

It's OK, just don't stop BF, as long as you have milk!

From tonight I am going to switch to formula for 11pm feed for my 4 week old DS. I am going to express though, and then freeze milk so I can start a little stockpile .... hoping he will sleep a bit longer after formula feed .....

Still think baby will be getting all benefits from other bfs. Makes no difference that one feed is formula,

"hoping he will sleep a bit longer after formula feed"
It's a myth that babies sleep longer with formula. SOME babies do, but then SOME babies sleep through the night from day one & SOME don't do it til 3-4. Every baby is different.

Tiny babies are designed to wake frequently; see Night Waking Protects Against SIDS

There are also 'risks' associated with 'just one bottle': drjaygordon.com/pediatricks/startingout/supplement.html However, as I said before, every baby is different & every parent is different - if you feel you need to give formula, it's your choice to make.
