Fresh blood coming out of nipple - you'd think I'd know what I was doing after 8 months

Why oh why is my right nipple bleeding? DD (8mths) has just had a mouthful of fresh blood mixed with milk - nice. Have to admit I've been ignoring pain in right boob for ages, pain after feeding and deep pain -- but sort of bearable. Now I've got this blood coming out. What is it? Don't think it's thrush as only one side is affected and no symptoms apart from this pain

Sounds like thrush to me - I had it in just one boob. If it's cracked and the other isn't then that could explain it being just in the one boob?

No cracked nipple. In fact nipple is in perfect condition. Can't think what it is. Will probably have to go to docs I think - unless anyone can shed light?
