i hope this doesn't sound like a silly question but how can you tell if you don't have enough milk or less than you used to have, especially as expressing doesn't give a true picture of how much milk you have?

my ds is just over 9 months old and i am about to go back to work three consecutive days a week. i plan to bf early morning and late afternoon/evening (and usually once/twice a night) but don't want the faff of expressing (i did it at the beginning and it just made my boobs sore). so i will obviously be missing a couple of daytime feed. so how will i be able to tell if my supply is affected?

You won't really. The only time you'll notice is on the days after you've been off a few days if you feed more, you notice you have a more plentiful supply.
