My HV just encouraged me to continue BF past 1 year!

Seriously she did. She asked when I planned to stop, I told her we are both enjoying it and I don't have any plans to wean her off BF yet (DD's only 16 weeks BTW) and she said 'well WHO says 2 years so if you feel like it go for it'. I am genuinely . And she didn't look at me like , or when I said I wanted to BLW.

My friends HV told her to give formula in food from 6 months as there isn't enough iron in breastmilk (I thought they were supposed to start getting iron from their diet at 6 months but hey-ho) and I just kind of thought the whole HV team were a bit backwards in their thinking.

No point to this, just wanted to share

hooray!!

not much more to add, but what a refreshing change!

Thats great to hear ! The HV I had when DS was born was fab too - totally supportive of extended bf, and didn't turn a hair at BLW

Well I had to listen to a HV tell the mother of a deliciously plump 5 month old that she 'might be getting a bit big' on breastmilk alone and that they'd better keep an eye on it, and then she told another lady that her just 5 month old bf baby was probably waking on the night because she needed weaning...

so it's very nice to hear of bf positive ones!

Sorry I meant 'just' 5 month old as in, she's only just turned 5 months. And she's waking in, not on, the night!
