Don't know if this appeals to you, but you could maybe try putting cheapo old fashioned cake-of-soap on them? (on the principle that insect bites are acidic and cheap soap is alkaline). It's worked for me in the past. hope that helps - it's so horrible being itchy!

It's not natural remedy, but piriton cream or if you've not got that then piriton tablets would probably work

I've taken piriton tablets for hayfever when pregnant and breastfeeding. GPs have been happy to prescribe it for me

rub a little tea tree oil on the bites - that should soothe and take away the itching and it has antiseptic qualities too. Failing that, aloe vera gel is also good for soothing painful skin.

Hydrocortisone cream which is used to treat eczema. It works like a charm within minutes.

we used to use a cream called anthisan. don't know if they still make it but it's fabulous

Piriton syrup is safe for bf and also when pregnant - my mIL is a midwife and double checked for me. It does taste disgusting though...

try vinegar or rub a lemon on it, it may help

Nellykats · 27/05/2010 23:17

apply the vinegar on the bites, don't drink it...
