maternal images, in the night garden

My mum is staying with me at the moment, and has been watching in the night garden with my son (20 months).

This morning over breakfast she said that when she was watching it there was a full screen image of a Tombliboo face in profile, which looked just like a breast and a nipple and she asked was that why it was so attractive to babies.

Any thoughts?

In the night garden is utterly trippy. So I wouldn't be surprised!

Never thought about it before but maybe you're right... Tombliboos are certainly very, very breastlike when seen from the side (have just had a quick look on youtube to check). But then again, FF babies are just as into this as BF babies, so who knows.

MaccaPacca's bottom also looks like a breast - his tail is the nipple.

ah yes, my mum agrees with you on makka pakka too.

And don't forget the Pinky Ponk - it has an enormous breast on the front of it!

SPB - My DS is a stone collector too...then he chooses a stone to be the sponge and another to be the soap before washing them all

OMG! I'll never be able to watch that programme again now without seeing breasts everywhere.

Not that I'd choose to watch it anyway you understand.

Yes I think it must be deliberate! It would make sense that babies would be attracted to things that looked like breasts, like they tend to look more at things with a face or which resemble a face.

This is one of my DS's favourite toys. It only occured to me recently that looking at her face is very similar to his breastfeeding view - pink nipple with distant glasses...
