Little Angels - Have you heard of them?

My sister has just had a (beautiful boy ) baby and she's getting the most amazing service from these people.

They're breastfeeding support people who will go out to her multiple times a day for a week after the birth and I think she still has contact after (although I could have some of that wrong).

How amazing is that?

What a shame that they only work with 5 NHS trusts across the whole of the UK. What a shame that the people with the purse strings can't see how much money they'd save in the end by having these people in their areas .

They are fab. They first came to visit me in hospital the morning after I had DD before we got discharged (I'd told the midwife I wanted to breastfeed).

This was followed up by a phone call the day after, a home visit 2 days later, then a further visit the week after. They were lovely, checked DD's latch, gave info and advice and just chatted. They still phone every couple of weeks or so, just to see if we are OK and need any help. They are also available to call at any time if you are struggling.

Can't praise them enough

What a wonderful idea! Far too sensible to keep getting funded I suppose.

they have been around for years and it is mostly volunteers. i went to a conference of theirs 4 years ago they are very inspiring.

yes, my mum investigated them for work related reasons, and I did too. They get glowing reports, as you say pity they're not more widespread - seem to be NW based.

They have a forum - I created the first ever thread/post!

ooh just to clarify when i say investigated i mean with a view to using them...not that they were under investigation iyswim!

Wow, have just checked out their website. All NHS trusts should have them, or something similar.
