WHAT IS THAT PHOTO ABOUT?!! Surely bf is the green way?

gingerkirsty · 05/05/2010 23:01

Ha ha ha ha ha ha that is genius! I am sure the bottle is BPA free though

FlipFantasia · 05/05/2010 23:01

Test your tap water for contaminants but here's a picture of a baby being bottle fed? Crazy...

hunkermunker · 05/05/2010 23:03

Of course, it could be EBM in a BPA-free bottle - but WHY is it even a picture of anything but a pregnant tummy, really?

Because we live in a bottle feeding culture and it is the expected norm for pictures of babies to be feed via a plastic bottle not a breast.

I found it quite sad that my still nursing DD 3.8 years old asked where the bottles were for our new baby to be.

She is still nursing, watches me nurse her younger brother (21 month old) and still she has picked up that babies need milk in bottles.

wastingaway · 06/05/2010 08:16

Aw.

You're right though, in our culture a picture of a baby bottle-feeding = baby, a picture of a baby breastfeeding = breastfeeding. It's very sad.

Ineedsomesleep · 06/05/2010 08:58

That is so sad. Why oh, why is it expected that baby = bottle?

CarmenSanDiego · 06/05/2010 09:04

I do think it's worth pointing these things out to the people displaying such pictures. I emailed the press department of an American company after seeing a tv advert featuring bottlefeeding (the product was a web service, not anything to do with babies although they were trying to target mums).

I pointed out that I fitted their target dynamic but couldn't identify with the bottlefeeding and got a great personal reply back. Not sure they pulled the advert, but it's good to make your feelings heard, after all they want to know if their adverts or blogs are somehow annoying or alienating people in their target audience.

Have a read at the comments people put at the bottom of the article. A lot of them are saying similar things.

EdgarAllenPoll · 06/05/2010 09:39

the comments have it right on that page.

MrsMotMot · 06/05/2010 14:19

Rubbish photo choice and pretty pants article too. Good comments below though. Just a stock pic, but yes, SO depressing that baby bottlefeeding=baby but baby bf=statement about bf...
