6mth old bf like a newborn at night

dd4 has just reached 26 weeks, and for the last few days has been feeding all night. Usually she feeds roughly every 2 hours during the day, and then goes to bed about 8.30pm and normally wakes again at 2am and 5 am for a feed and up for the day from 7am.

But since saturday she has fed every hour through the night and still every 2 hours during the day. It seems to be since giving her baby rice she has been doing this.

I didn't start solids with my second dd until six mouths but i then did go very quickly baby rice is only really to get them use to pushing food to the back of there mouth so one day is enough just use it to thicken food that is too running to use it up. What I did was to try one new food every two days and then when she had had a couple I foods I would mix them together for a different flavour on the days in between new foods. Like apple and pear. You need to quickly move to mashing so it is a little more lumpy. It does seam to be harder work weaning a six mths trying to get enough food and fluid in them. Most of the babes in my first antenatal group slept really well after avocado and banana we nick named it sleeping food. hope this helps. could be teathing

You would think considering she is my 6th I would be used to weaning but she is the first one that I have breastfed, so all my others were usually sleeping through by 4 mths.

Will try avocado and banana tomorrow if she doesnt sleep tonight

Maybe this is a growth spurt and not really related to the weaning. After all, a teaspoon or two of baby rice probably won't make that much difference.(in terms of making dd sleep more).

I never thought of another growth spurt

i think ds might have just had a growth spurt - he is almost 7 months. last night he was decidedly less hungry . i have heard there is a big 6 month growth spurt - before they start crawling??

She wasnt in a feeding frenzy last night although when she did wake I could not get her back to sleep in her cot, so she spent the night in my bed.
