MW says it is ok, but her and I were both expecting much more.
Yellow nappies and plenty of wet ones - her wee is clear, I can hear her guzzling as she feeds, there is plenty of milk there.

Lady - is this an ounce over birthweight or an ounce more than the lowest weight....which was what?

What about her poos?

LadyOfTheFlowers · 27/04/2010 12:16

Sorry.

She was 4038 at birth.

Have been fully bfing her.

Day 5 3780
Day 12 3820

She is still slightly jaundiced.

Poo is yellow sometimes but mostly golden yellow/orange.

Plenty of wee which is clear.

MW has said this is ok, but I am terribly dissapointed at such a small gain. Couldn't help but cry once she left.

It is a little slow, but it is not panic-able

The slight jaundice is prob affecting weight gain.

Poos should be frequent - 3 or so a day.

I think it's sensible to be watchful and to make sure your dd has every opportunity to feed from both breasts each time, so lots of skin to skin and quick responses when she gives a feeding cue. Weighing within a few days makes sense too.

Weight is only part of an assessment of health and growth, and it's good the midwife has seen her.

Sounds like you just need to keep feeding!

maybe she continued to lose weight after day 5, so you didn't measure her at her lowest?

LadyOfTheFlowers · 27/04/2010 18:36

Yes, she is doing at least 3 poos a day.

The baby grow she wore home from the hosp is also a little on the small side now too.

Sounds alot like my DS. But by 3 weeks he had jumped from just above 25th centile (at birth) to just under 75th!! and has followed 75th ever since.

As always, tiktoks advice sound spot on!

Every 3/4 days she has a mega night feeding frenzy - what is this about?
She did it again last night.

She had both boobs until they were totally soft - popped off momentarily when the milk started to squirt - so off to bed we went, me thinking that would be it for a couple of hours, but once we got upstairs she was on at me again, getting frustrated as all the 'obvious' milk was gone as she'd had it.

I am exhausted this morn.

Cluster feeding - it's normal.
