Weaning 2 year old from breast at night

Hi All - After two years DW has had enough of breasting at night. We got into this habit due to very bad colic of breasting DD to sleep. With help from a relative over Easter we have managed to get her to sleep with a bottle which is a breakthrough for us. It sounds stupid but do you think if we put hot milk in a thermos flask, we could make abottle for her in the middle of the night instead of giving her the breast. We just want to end the breastfeeding. I think 2 years is long enough. You get loads of info to start breastfeeding but very little to to stop it. I am just worried that the milk in a thermos would somehow breed bacteria if kept warm for several hours?

i think milk in a thermos would be fine tbh!
sometimes it works best if you try and settle her, instead of her mum (cos she knows mum has milk!)

also maybe take a look at jay gordon's changing sleep patterns.

also, depending on how good your child's understanding is, you can say that "milkies has gone to sleep" or soemthing along those lines. just to let her know that the breastmilk is NOT coming during the night any more.

Wouldn't you rather everyone sleeps through? It sounds like a good time to stop milk in the night altogether. First few nights might be tough but he will adapt, don't worry.

We used Jay Gordon's method. Not a tear in the house.
