Any merit in topping up with EBM at 6mo?

DS is nearly 6mo and really distractible while breastfeeding. His weight has been faltering of late and I wondered if this had something to do with it.

Up 'til now he hasn't accepted a bottle but recently he did and drank about 8oz! I can't believe he gets this much from me, but maybe he does...

Would topping up with ebm in a bottle help him eat more, or do people reckon I'd just end up putting him off the boob, as it's more work?

Or maybe his weight is levelling off as he's ebf and the charts are for ff babies, and I should just carry on ebf'ing and not mess things up

Tbh at 6mo I would have thought it's unlikely that he'll get "put off" the breast (but I'm no expert!).

Ds generally only had ebm at this age when I wasn't around to feed him (which was v rare!) rather than as a top up as such but if your ds is hungry and finds it easier to feed from a bottle then I'm sure it won't do any harm once in a while.

Could he be teething? (Ds gets very distracted when he's teething and pulls on/off the breast)

If you're worried about the weight have a look at the WHO website where you can find the bf weight charts - on the ff charts ds's weight when down from 25th centile to 9th from 6mo to 9mo but on the bf ones he stuck pretty much to the 25th centile so it can be quite different.

I'm sure someone more knowledgable will be along soon!
