The title really says it all. She is off her food and utterly miserable. She got a stinking cold and is teething. We have just had a bright yellow nappy.

I suppose I have to believe she knows what is best for her at the moment, but I am shattered.

Ahhhh, just get through this last little hurdle and if you still want to give up do it!!

Very usual for them to just want bm when they have a cold. I got through it by imagining how much harder it would be to get them through a cold with bm.

Aww, bless her. This is really common when they are ill. I remember DS having a similar thing at the same age and being forcibly reminded of feeding a newborn! Have you got older children or can you just set up camp in bed/on the sofa with her and some DVDs/sky+/laptop?

I have just been through this so you have my utmost sympathy. Notice I say been. I got out the other side alive and nipples intact. ~Hang in there

At around 11 months my dd went through a run of nasty viruses and had given up breastfeeding at 7 months. I really felt that my friends who hadnt stopped breastfeeding bubs who were getting the same bugs dealt with them better and were sick for less time. So DS 9 months is still breastfed for partly this reason and does exactly what you describe when ill. He does seem to get well quicker, not seem to get quite as ill and get less bugs than his sister used to.........

So maybe a little bit of encouragement from my little non-scientific sample. It sure ain't easy though

Thank you for the supportive posts. DD is looking better today although she is still off her food. I'm going to take her to the doctor tomorrow.
