How can you tell if Tongue tie was snipped properly

I've only recently noticed that ds never pokes his tongue out. He doesn't lick his lips either. It's only now he's started spitting food out that I've spotted that his Tongue is definately still heart shaped.
I thought the reason it made no difference to bf was because he'd found his own feeding technique he never struggled to feed, so after the snip didn't need to change his ways.
Started irrationally worrying that they didn't snip properly in the first place.

Can I check/ ask someone to check?

Run your finger under the tongue. If you feel a bump or your finger catches on something then the TT may well still be there. Some babies have a posterior or submucosal TT that isn't really cisible as a flap of skin, as it's under some of the tissue under the tongue.

Generally when they're snipped if there's no miracle moment where mum relaxes and says something along the lines of "aaah that feels completely different" then the whole thing may well not have been snipped. The exception to this is where the baby is older than a few weeks and may need to actively re-learn the technique more.

You could go back to the place where it was snipped or contact a lactation consultant that does snipping for a private consultation. Not all dividers in hospitals recognise submucosal ties sadly.

Oh bugger. That'll mean risking life and limb with his nashers now. Will have feel maybe...

I'll be cross if it's not been done properly as most of my reasoning for doing it was the possible effect on speech later and that once they hit 12mo it's a general anaesthetic job. Tbh my experience of bf had already put me off by then.
Ds was 5weeks when we had it done and had had enough feeds to slim me down to less than pre pg weight so maybe he just liked his odd technique.
