DD is now 2 weeks 12 days old and EBF.... am chuffed to bits with how it's going as had lots of problems with ds, he was in NICU and I had to express. He was a very sleepy feeder and often went 4 hours and needed to be woken up. DD however is a different kettle of fish, she is voracious! She can feed every 1.5- 3 hours (3 hours if I'm lucky) and is especialy boob seeking in the night. Feeding this frequently at this age is very normal I know, but I am just seeking a bit of reassurance that at some point she will widen the gap between feeds? I know it's diff for each baby but when do they (on average) atart to go a bit longer? 6-8weeks? Just need a bit of encouragement and some light at the end of the tunnel reassurance I guess......

My DD is 12 weeks old and fed pretty much constantly from weeks 2 to 8. I would only get longer than an hour out of her if we went out. Half an hour was often her norm and feeds could last for an hour!

At about 8 weeks she started going 2 hours between feeds and is still doing that now but is MUCH better on a night. Will have a big cluster feed for about an hour or two but will then sleep for 6 to 7 hours - bliss.

Hang in there - it does get better.

weeeelll, last night was mixed, went from 9.00 feed until 12.00 wake up (but then a feed takes 45 min...) then went down at 1.00 am and up again at 3, then down at 4 and up at 5.20.... currently asleep (but stiring) at 8.20... so starting to be a bit less relentless....

my 15 week goes through little fads.... She was feeding every 2-3 hours for about 15-20 mins, then a couple of weeks ago we had a nursing strike during the day that lasted a week but would feed if i caught her just as she was waking for about 10 mins, bedtime feed always about 30-45 mins and her night feed usually about 10 mins, she was going to sleep around 8-2/3-ish, sometimes 4 then again for 1-2 hours, quick feed then another bit until wide awake at 7..

Last night she decided to wake every 2 hours and feed for 30 mins each time.... It all changes....

They're all different. I always read these threads in despair because my DS never goes more than 2.5 hours between feeds, even at night, and he is 23 weeks. DD was the same.
