Newborn fussing on and off breast

Hi. My daughter is 6 days old and exclusively b/f. She has taken to it like a pro and her latch is good and she does seem to be managing to empty a boob. However most feeds seem to take an extremely long time as she fusses on and off the boob the whole time, and I'll think she is done and she then routes for more. Is this normal for newborn feeding and will it get better?

Thanks

This sounds like she might need sitting upright or holding against your shoulder for a minute to see if she has a burp needing to come up.

Whenever ds fussed like that it meant he was hungry, but couldn't manage any more milk till he had done a burp.

It is very normal for them to simply want to move from one breast to the other and back again. Please don't make this worry you. Consider it a time to put your feet up and let other people be responsible for making your teathe mundane tasks around you. You are busy bonding with your baby and establishing a good milk supply.

As long as she roots, just stay there and feed her.
