Hi, this is my first post.
I'm having a few problems and i was hoping for a little help if anyone has any ideas please.

My 8 month old baby boy is breastfed and has never taken a bottle, i've tried so many different types and i've now tried him with a cup which he'll drink a little water (few mls only) from but completely refuses it when i put milk in there.
I recently gave him a bottle with water which he entertained, putting it in his mouth and playing with it but he just won't suck from it.

There's another problem, he only weighes 14lbs 15oz (6kgs) and as I mentioned, he's 8 months old. He's under 2 consultants but dosen't seem to be getting anywhere. He's been on 3 meals a day (when he eats that is) and i add dbl cream, formula milk, full fat cheese...you name it but he's still not putting the weight on

He appears to be well apart from this but i'm so worried about him, they say the first year of lift is the most important in brain development nut i'm so worried that he's not growing and developing.

He's on the 0.4th centile from being on the 50th at birth and his length has dropped from 75th to 25th centile.

If anyone has any ideas i'd be so greatful to hear them.

thanks for reading my long post!

If he doesn't eat very well either it probably means he is naturally inclined maybe to be more skinny?

Don't worry about brain development - breastfeeding is the best thing you can do for that. Make sure that you drink omega & calcium tablets, eat well and drink plenty of fluids.

Have you tried letting someone else give him a cup or a bottle? This will only work if you are away away - not even in the next room. Just keep trying yourself with the cup - also maybe try some diluted apple juice? Know its not the best but it might get him used to drinking something else that is also nice from a cup - water is not really very tasty.

I've got a dinky one too. She weighs about 14lbs and is 7 months old (she was 10 weeks prem). dd also refuses to drink formula or ebm from a bottle or cup though she will drink water and juice from an Avent magic cup so am hoping now that she has learned to do that, that she may in time accept milk from one. Have you tried the soft spout cups such as the Avent one? I share your worries as dd is also not a great eater and to make things worse she gets sick a lot.
