Hi everyone,
My LO has just turned 4 months, weighs 8.2kg (over 18lbs) and for the past month has gone from eating 5 180ml bottles a day to 4 of between 80-160 (210ml before bed) He chews constantly on the bottle and dummy but Doc says he cnt see any teeth coming through. He also stopped sleeping during the night and now wakes 4-5times!If i feed him he doest finish the bottle. Hes been v tired this month and had odd day of fever. On Sat he had fever of 38.5 all day and 1/2 day Sunday. He was better by Sun night then today his head and torso are hot but his temp is fine (37) but he wldt drink his milk and i had to give him 120ml 2hrs after he wld normally feed and then he wanted to go back to sleep again? What cld it be?(ps he only sleeps 30mins a time during the day!)thanks for any suggestions xx

My LO's only slept for 45 minutes per nap at this age. I kept them up inbetween naps for a maximum of 2 hours at this age and started the soothe to sleep routine once they started to exhibit sleep signs, such as rubbing eyes, yawning etc. When they both got to 6 months I moved them onto napping at 10.30am and 3pm and the naps then lengthened. But do whatever works for you.

What I can say is that both of mine were teething by 4 months and both had at least 2 teeth by 5 months. They can take a while to surface. Maybe try Bonjela teething gel 10 minutes before a feed to numb the gums? That always helped mine to take a feed if their teeth were causing problems.

Also at night if they were waking from teething more than usual, the first thing I would do was offer bonjela teething gel and then a feed to help them go back to sleep again at this age. They'd then sleep until the teething gel wore off 3 hours later.

It could be they did have a virus but that's cleared up now and its now just teeth? It can put them off feeds.

But I'm no expert here, maybe some other mumsnetter will come along soon.
