Can I start to give ebm to my toddler?

I have DD1 who is 2.11 and DD2 who is 0.3 and exclusively breastfed. I gave up feeding DD1 at four months for various reasons, but recently I have got to know a few people who are still feeding 2 year olds.

I'm wondering if I could start giving DD1 ebm with her breakfast or whatever, so she could get some of the benefits. Not too happy with the idea of starting to feed her directly, as I don't think she would behave herself, but a 3oz or so drink from a cup is easy for me to produce.

Would that give her any benefits? How do I introduce the idea to her? (she is very keen on being a big girl)

If I were you I would go to the Kellymom site and post there on this subject. I've read lots of different opinions on the value of breast milk over 6 months, and some sources are quite disparaging about it. I would trust the research on Kellymom rather than the opinion of various different HV's

I did this! My DS1 was 3 when his wee brother arrived and I had stacks and stacks of milk piling up in the freezer so starting giving it to my DS1. I just used to give him a cup of it whenever he asked for a drink, he liked it both cold from the fridge and warm if I'd just expressed!

I never looked up info to see if it would be beneficial, I just assumed that breastmilk full of good stuff would be good for anyone.

i think it might help me too. I'm still very about giving up feeding her in the first place, so it would be great if she could just have a bit more, iyswim.

I know exactly what you mean. I gave up feeding my DS1 at 4 months too and have always felt guilty for that. We shouldn't, but we do.

Butterpie, I have wondered this too. Am currently pg and only managed a few weeks with ds. I am hoping to make a decent shot of bfing htis time and wondered if I should/could give EBM to ds. He loves cows' milk, and I am guessing it would certainly not do him any harm? I'll also have a wee look at Kellymom.
