Bulgy blue veins on chest/boobs

Does anyone else have this? I wasn't too self-conscious about it until my mother said "What's that??!! OMG you've got a varicose vein on your chest!" Thanks Mum.

Will they go when I stop BFing? I'm planiing on continuing for another couple of years, but it would be nice to think the veins will go one day!

The veins on my chest/boobs are definitely more pronounced now that I'm breastfeeding - I think it's because your boobs need a greater blood supply during this time (that's why your boobs go hot when your milk reflex kicks in!).

HTH

It's odd that I've never noticed it until now! I'm BFing DC3. I really do hope the veins will eventually shrink.

I have them now, and I am not giving birth for another couple of weeks!

You mean they stay all throughout breastfeeding? Fantastic

Do they ever go away?

Oh God...I have just been googling to see if there is a way of reducing them, and it's come up as one of the "alarm bells" in breast exams.

Bollocks. I can't get to a doc until next week and I'm going to be fretting.

I have those too, attractiv eh! Now, funnily enough, my mother in law warned me that it would happen, she's bf'd 4 children, so she knows stuff!

Apparently is just down to blood supply and it does reduce when bf-ing is more established and does fade when you stop. I guess they're just doing what they need to!

Another perk of motherhood!
