Baby looks starving. Would you mention it?

This is for a friend who also happens to be a GP. She's worried about her friend's 8-week old baby who looks so skinny and ill. Others have commented.

The baby was over 9lbs at birth, but no looks wan and emaciated and attracts comments. My firend has subtly mentioned it to the mother but it's shurugged off.

She's worried about sticking her nose in and upsetting her friend, but more worried about the baby.

What would you do?

This is really tough, but you have to consider the consequences. If the mother gets upset that is less of a crime than allowing a baby to starve to death.

I am amazed that a GP, a trained medic, has issues with this. She has the moral and prof. DUTY to to tell her friend that the baby looks too skinny and to seek immediate medical advice.

Ooops! Sorry for taking so long to see this.

The update is, there is no update. My friend decided to do nothing in the end and then her attentions were taken up with moving house to another part of the country and sorting out all kinds of new problems which arose as a result.

Sorry for the inconclusive ending.

spider - what happened to the baby ?

I don't know koolkat as my friend knew the baby and I didn't. I assume nothing dramatic happened otherwise she would have told me.

spider - sorry I felt very sorry for the baby when I read this read.
