Stopping breastfeeding and diet

Hiya, I am contemplating giving up breastfeeding in the next few weeks or so now that my daughter has turned one and can have cows milk. I currently feed her first thing in the morning and at at bedtime (and in between when she is particularly whingey!)

When I give up, will I need to cut back on my calorie intake to avoid putting on weight? Or will I lose weight as my body realises it doesn't need to retain fat to feed my baby anymore?

Thank you!

Stopping breastfeeding should reduce your appetite, as you will be consuming fewer calories. Depending on how much you normally feed in a day, breastfeeding can use around 500cal/day.
