Will my bf'd newborn be protected from winter vomiting bug?

My 2 year old has picked this up from nursery, but it's not affecting the adults. Just wondering if my 7 week old is likely to get it or if she will be protected from the antibodies I seem to have to it.

Anyone been through a similar experience?

My daughter caught the winter vomiting bug last winter when I had a 1 week old baby at home.

I ran around disinfecting toilet flushes, door handles, mopping floors, washing hand towels etc any thing she'd touch and I kept washing my hands constantly and the baby and me managed not to get it.

I think once the baby starts crawling around and touching everything, it gets harder to stop them catching it though.

Hope someone else has some advice for you though as I'm no expert here, just my personal experience.

I would thiiink so. I'd imagine that if the adults aren't getting it, it's because they're already immune to a certain extent to that bug, so the baby should get some immunity from your milk. We once all had a vomiting bug that we certainly weren't immune to and the BF 6 mo baby got it as well.

Thank you. Am trying to ensure the baby isn't exposed, but is difficult when looking after them both. Will just keep my fingers crossed!

I wouldn't say it's guaranteed that she won't get it, but you have given her the best chance of protection against that you possibly can by breastfeeding.

If she does get ill, breastmilk is the best thing for her as it is very easily digested and rehydrating and will be doing some good even if it comes straight back up - but obviously keep an eye on her anyway.

I'm bfeeding my 6mo and I got the bug first, he got it too but my toddler and husband avoided it. So much for the immunity I should have passed to him!

Thamks BB and Thalia. She's ok so far but i guess it's early days. Will keep breastfeeding and hope for the best.
