Lump in breast last few weeks - stopped bf few weeks before that

Anyone got any ideas? It's very tender and about the size of an apple (I have big boobs anyway) and appeared around xmas. I stopped breastfeeding the start of Dec. due to cracked nipples and mastitis (in the other breast). My other breast seems back to normal.

Thought it would eventually go but no luck. Last week I went to see GP. He gave me AB's but couldn't be sure it was infected as I have no other mastitis symptoms. The AB's have made no difference and I'll phone tomorrow to speak to someone but I just wondered if anyone has had this and/or knows what I should expect the next step to be.

TIA

My friend stopped bf a few back and a big lump appeared, her doc sent her to hosp to check but all came back fine and they said most probably due to bf.
Best to contact doc again as AB's should kick in near enough straight away.

I went to the GP about something similar a couple of weeks after I stopped breastfeeding DD1 - I had a hospital appointment ready but never had to attend it (on dr's advice!)as it did vanish quite quickly on its own. I think the general conscensus was that it was a milk-duct cyst (I think a Galactocele was the name, but that might be from my own Googling and not, like, a proper diagnosis!). It wasn't as big as the lump you describe, so might have gone quicker for that reason. I'd have another word with your doctor, anyway...hope it clears up speedily!
