5 month old with green poo & nappy rash

Sorry if TMI....

DD2, nearly 6 months, has being doing very frequent dark green poos for the last 2 weeks and has terrible nappy rash. Have tried vaseline and metanium but no improvement whatsoever.

Took her to the GP yesterday but it was a very young new GP who looked very unsure and didn't even want to look at her bum (though I showed her anyway )- has just given us a pot to get a stool sample and suggested we see the HV next week as she'll know more about which creams to use.

Usually DD2 does 1 or 2 huge yellow right-up-the-back poos each day (sorry TMI again ) so this is not like her at all.

This morning I tried leaving her with her nappy off for a while but she was doing small amounts of very watery poo every few minutes so it was pretty impossible.

She's exclusively breastfed and seems generally well, not dehydrated, but possibly more whingey than usual.

Any ideas? TIA!

My DS had green poos for a while, though younger than six months (and definitely before weaning), which we decided were the result of feeding too often. I was misinterpreting his cries, and had got into the habit of feeding him too often. Perhaps he didn't get the hindmilk, or something. Anyway, it was going straight through far too quickly.

Does this resonate for you?

I do feed her quite frequently, but haven't done anything different the last 2 weeks so I don't think that would really explain the change.

She's always been a terrible sleeper (feeding every 2 hours through the night) but the last 2 nights she's slept much better. Rather than being pleased, I'm just a bit worried it's because she's not well

My DD had green poo's at around 5 months. I don't remember any soreness though.
Anyway GP, HV etc all claimed that varying colours of poo in BF babies was normal, I wasn't overly happy though.
Spoke to the BfN and they suggested DD was not latching correctly and so was getting a inbalance of the milk.
She helped us to re-establish a correct latch and 4 days later, normal yellowy poos.
The councillor said that no matter how seasoned a BF mother you are (DD is my 3rd), you sometimes get lazy/complacent and just need to check your technique.
The rash on her bottom, is it red at the base but flaky looking white at the top? If yes that is thrush and hydrocortisone will work in a matter of days.

Im having issues with DD2 at the moment too (5 months) she is a nightmare feeding, has green poos and had really bad nappy rash last week but metanium has pretty much cleared it up - its still there a bit tho. HV thought she might have silent reflux but im not convinced. All infant gaviscon has done is bung her up and make her really unsettled in the night so ive stopped it now. Was wondering if it could be oral thrush or a lazy latch but not sure. Sleeping has gone up the swanny too so im knackered. Think the poos must be a milk imbalance as she tends to feed a little bit of both sides but hardly anything so probably too much foremilk, but what can i do when she will hardly feed?!?!

Hope the rash clears up, its horrible isnt it
