I have an EBF 18 week old son, and he feeds about seven times a day - sometimes eight, rarely six, but generally seven. I have to leave him for a few hours in a couple of weeks and I'm dreading it, though I can't take him with me so there's no way around it. I will need to make a provision for feeding him while I'm away, and although I hated expressing when I last tried it (about nine weeks ago...) I am planning to gather my strength and spend a couple of days trying to pump out enough for him for two feeds, just in case I'm delayed. I'm also planning to try to get him to feed from a bottle a couple of times before then, as I'm worried he might not take to it. But the main preoccupation I have is how much milk I need to pump for him to be satisfied.
He is a tiny thing - only 11.5 pounds, having been 6 pounds 5 at birth. He loves feeding and is still up a couple of times at night, which is fine by me as I just want him to get bigger in his own time and fatten up like all the other babies I see. But I absolutely don't want him to go short because I am away, and the last time he was bottle fed, he was only taking about 120ml. Can anyone suggest how much to give him? Because he feeds so often anyway, it's hard to get a chance to pump to try him out, so to speak. But having a target in mind would definitely help.
