Out of Lansinoh - OK to use nappy rash cream?

DS scratched my nipple earlier and has fed from it a few times since and it's really sore. I am out of Lansinoh and have no way of getting any now, but I have got some Weleda Calendula nappy change cream which has always cleared up nappy rash really quickly, would it be ok to use that? I would wipe it off before feeding him (though hopefully he will not want any more for a while) - he is 15 months old if that is relevant.

I wouldn't - can you keep him feeding on the non-injured side for a day or two?

I had to do this with DS after he bit me and made a little puncture, it was sooo painful and started to ooze (sp??) green gunk which I had to squeeze out. Sorry, TMI!

When I ran out of lansinoh before (when DD was a few weeks old), I used vaseline with aloe vera. Worked just as well and was much easier than the lanolin based stuff to put on too!

Difficult to just feed him on one side as he wants to feed about 20 times a day and have at least 5 "sides" each time, it feels like.

I did actually put some on because it was really sore and it seems to have helped. It was just the top layer of skin which had come off but it was just that he kept feeding and keeping the wound open I think.

Use breast milk - I always found that worked way better than Lansinoh. Squirt and wipe over your nipple whenever you remember. It's magic stuff.
