Started on cows' milk - runny poo, is this normal

My DS has just turned 1 and I have changed his milk from Aptamil to cows milk. Is it normal for him to have runny poos because of the change of milk?

He was happy to take the Aptamil at room temp but I am not keen on giving him cold milk. Do other parents warm their DC's cows milk or give it to them cold?

My son had the same reaction to cows milk and my hv advised to put him back onto formula until he was 18 months and then try again. As he also has mild excema I now give him goats milk which seems to be better for him, doesn't have the same affect on his poo and also helps with his skin. I just blitz it for 30 seconds in the microwave as he's not keen on it straight out of the fridge.

Thanks for your reply. Will try a couple more days and then consider formula again. May take a while for their tummies to adjust.

have you just done a straight swap? I did in one feed at a time e.g. morning one as cows milk and evening one as formula. After a week or so when he was ok with that I swapped the other one to cows milk too.
